Government Announces Solar Panel Grants and Loans.
Homeowners received a festive surprise in December. The UK Government has announced plans for a major initiative to help them transition to solar energy.
Introduced as part of the Government’s £6.6 billion Warm Homes Plan, the new solar panel initiative is expected to launch later this year. It will offer grants to fuel-poor households for solar panel installations. It will also provided low-interest, government-backed loans for those in higher-income brackets.
Additionally, the proposed changes are expected to include measures that would increase the amount of money households can earn from selling excess electricity generated by their solar panels to the grid.
At Segen, we wholeheartedly welcome this development. We believe it marks a significant step towards making solar energy more accessible to homeowners across the UK. However, we call for clarity and a full launch as soon as possible to maintain momentum in the solar industry.
More details are expected to be unveiled in the Government’s 2025 Spending Review this spring. We’ll keep a close eye on the updates to Government grants for solar panels. We’ll ensure our customers are informed about all key developments. Plus, in future newsletters, we’ll share expert tips and strategies for installers.
