Rates and Terms
Segen finance is a credit-broking aggregator, which means we pull the best possible quotes from our panel of lenders. This enables us to find you the lowest rates available. You will be able to pick from a few pre-packaged loan options that were strategically designed by our lending partners with the objective of minimizing costs and passing the savings on to you.
Our rates are standardized, so everyone who qualifies will automatically get the same pre-set rate. You’ll need to fill out a credit application form with the lender in order to get approved – but qualifying is easy as long as you have a good credit score, have a home under your name, and have no recent defaults or late payments on record.
What makes us different
Our goal at Segen has always been to make renewable energy more accessible. That’s why we launched Segen Finance, a platform that finds you the best rates from our handpicked lending partners, making solar easy and affordable. Our financing product is available only to our highest rated and most reputable installers with extensive experience in residential and commercial PV – so you can be confident that with Segen Finance, you are getting the highest quality system at the best price.

Explanation & Accuracy of Quoted Payback Period
One of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a home solar system is the payback period, or the time it takes for the savings generated by your solar system to recoup its initial cost. Here’s how it works:
Initial Investment:
This includes the total cost of purchasing and installing your solar system. If you’re financing, this would be the sum of your down payment (if any) and the total of your loan payments over the loan term.
Monthly Energy Savings:
Once your solar system is operational, it generates electricity that you would otherwise purchase from your utility provider. The amount you save on your electricity bill each month is a direct financial benefit of your solar system.
Calculating Payback Period:
1. Determine your annual savings on electricity bills. This can vary based on your energy consumption, the size of your solar system, and local electricity rates.
2. Divide the total cost of your system by the annual savings. The result is your payback period, expressed in years. Example: If your solar system costs £10,000 and you save £2,000 annually on electricity, your payback period would be 5 years.
Factors Affecting Payback Period:
Energy Usage:
Higher energy usage can lead to more significant savings and a shorter payback period. The installer will use your past utility bills to get an accurate picture of your home’s energy usage. The more information available, the better; intraday energy usage data allows us to project the flow of power between your panels, battery, and grid with extreme precision, leading to the most accurate payback calculation possible.
Solar System Efficiency:
More efficient systems can
generate more electricity, potentially reducing the payback period. Segen sells only the highest quality, newest components from reputable manufacturers, resulting in the most efficient systems possible.
Electricity Rates:
Higher utility rates mean greater savings and a shorter payback period. Note that payback calculations also account for annual inflation in electricity rates. We assume a conservative 2% inflation rate, well below historical averages, in order to minimize the chance of overpromising savings.
Incentives and Rebates:
Any available solar incentives, rebates, or tax credits can reduce your upfront cost and shorten the payback period.
Boost your sales potential by offering finance
Customer financing is targeted at potential customers who are on the fence about buying goods or services from your business because they are deterred by the upfront payment. Customer financing allows customers to enrol in an affordable payment plan so that they don’t have to pay all at once. Offering customer financing can help you make larger sales, make sales more often, and increase customer loyalty.
Here at Segen Finance we assist you in offering finance to your customers. Working with a wide range of lenders we aim to build a bespoke package. We understand that all businesses are different and delivering the correct finance product can be key to increasing sales and margins.
FAQs
An IAR is an appointed representative of a company (such as Segen) who is able to introduce their customers to finance options using Segen’s FCA licence.
To introduce financing to private individuals, you are required to have approval from the Finance Conduct Authority. If you do not have that approval, and meet Segen’s criteria, you will be able to use our approval to help facilitate sales to your customers who don’t have the required lump sum of cash for a solar installation.
Segen must carry out due diligence checks to ensure your company and directors are competent and in good standing. To onboard, you will need to provide a variety of standard company information. Further details on what is required can be discussed with one of our team members.
After you register your interest with us to become an IAR, Segen Finance will send you an onboarding pack to complete. Provided you meet the requirements, Segen Finance will enter into an agreement with you and notify the FCA that you are now our IAR. Once the admin is done, Segen will invite you to an onboarding day to kick-start your financing journey.
As an IAR of Segen Finance, you will only be able to work with Segen approved lenders.
By being able to introduce financing to your customers to Segen Finance, we can help facilitate sales to your customers who don’t have the required lump sum of cash for a solar installation.
We can provide a full list of our criteria once you have registered your interest in becoming an IAR.
Within FCA regulations, you are allowed to have multiple principal firms, however we want this to be a collaborative partnership. We would therefore ask you to not work with any other Principal firms during your time as one of Segen Finance’s IARs so that we can ensure that your customer gets the best experience possible during their financing journey.
Prior to onboarding, we will check that you meet all of the requirements needed to become an IAR. Depending on where you fall short, we can help guide you to get to the level you need to be to become an IAR. Once onboarded, we will work with you to ensure that these standards are maintained.
