SSI Investigation
Conclusion of the SSI’s investigation into JA Solar’s sourcing compliance.
The Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) has unanimously defended JA Solar’s commitment to ethical sourcing practices following the conclusion of a comprehensive independent investigation in January.
In a statement issued yesterday, the SSI said it had lifted the temporary suspension of JA Solar imposed on 16 January 2025 following a thorough investigation which recognised “the company’s full cooperation and commitment in good faith to the established SSI Principles”.
The investigation upheld JA Solar’s claim that since 2018, JA Solar modules sold in the U.S. have exclusively used American polysilicon, supported by ingot and wafer production in South East Asia, dedicated for the U.S. market.
As a vertically integrated Tier 1 supplier, JA Solar is a leader in ethical sourcing and supply chain traceability. This is exemplified by its Integrated Traceable Supply (ITS) panels, which feature a third-party verified system for tracking module-level polysilicon sourcing.
Segen exclusively distributes ITS panels from JA Solar and fully backs the company’s proactive, industry-leading stance on ethical sourcing and low carbon supply chains. We are therefore pleased with the swift conclusion of the SSI’s investigation into JA Solar’s sourcing compliance.
